Who we are
The Board has been making a concerted effort to recruit new members and increase diversity. The Committee is now sending a personal letter to new employees at the Health Division, inviting them to join the OPHA, and will expand that outreach to include new county employees.
The Committee surveyed other public health associations around the country regarding their funding, infrastructure, and tax-exempt status.
It is clear that obtaining a grant is the best way to get an infusion of funds for building infrastructure. This year, the Board made significant progress toward achieving 501(c)(3) status for the OPHA, which we must have to apply for grants. The Committee is currently developing an idea for writing a proposal around the concept of expanding the role OPHA plays in educating and training the public health workforce. However, we are a very small committee and would gladly welcome additional volunteers!
