Kimberly Repp was the winner of the first Young Professionals Award from the Epidemiology/Biostatistics section, October 9, 2012. Purpose of Award: This award recognizes Oregon Public Health Association (OPHA) Epidemiology and Biostatistics Section members who are early in their public health careers, making substantial contributions to the field, and serving as models to other early professionals. Awardees are current graduate-level students and new professionals in the state of Oregon who are making outstanding contributions to one or more aspects of the fields of epidemiology and biostatistics by:
Award: The award recipient will receive $500. Eligibility Criteria: Nominees for this award must be current or new members of the OPHA Epidemiology and Biostatistics Section and graduate-level students or new professionals that graduated from a graduate program within the last 2 years. Additionally, nominees must have a vested interest in improving the public’s health, as evidenced through the submitted description of their work (see below). The nominee’s work may involve epidemiology and biostatistics research or practice, and it may be ongoing work or a completed project or product. If the public health work has been conducted by a team, then only one member of the team will be eligible to receive the award.
