Join us for the Portland Heart Walk — This Saturday, June 6th
If you're looking for a way to show up for heart health this weekend, the American Heart Association Heart Walk is happening this Saturday, June 6th in Portland. Come out, walk with your community, and celebrate the work being done to fight heart disease and stroke. You can create your own team, or join one under our company page. We hope to see some of you there!
"Corazón: The Legacy of Community Health Workers in the Columbia Gorge of Oregon and Washington"
A heartfelt thank you to our friends at Pacific University for bringing this documentary to our attention. Corazón shares the history of Community Health Workers (CHWs) in the Columbia Gorge region, beginning in 1988—a movement that has since grown into an internationally recognized profession, with over 150 CHWs working in this region alone. You can view it here.
This fully bilingual (Spanish-English) documentary, premiering in 2026, highlights the stories of several CHWs and the remarkable diversity of their work. It was created by a team of CHWs and allies committed to sharing the importance of this movement and its connections to Popular Education, Public Health, and the Structural Determinants of Health. We encourage you to screen it with your community groups and share it widely.
