The Disability Section is offering annual scholarships to two individuals who demonstrate commitment to disability issues, leadership, and interest in active involvement in Disability Section activities.

The scholarship covers registration to the 78th OPHA Annual Conference & Meeting and membership dues for one year. This year’s conference will be held on Monday, October 16th and Tuesday, October 17th.

To apply, submit a 1-page essay describing your experience and interests related to disability and public health to Jessica Coughlin at [email protected] by September 8th, 2023.

What is OPHA?
OPHA is a professional group that strives to ensure all Oregonians have quality public health services and policies that protect, promote and preserve their health, regardless of who they are.

What is the Disability Section?
The Disability Section is an interest group within OPHA that aims to raise awareness of health disparities experienced by people with disabilities and advocate for policies that promote inclusion and access to health for all individuals.

New this year, OPHA  invited Sponsors to fund OPHA Conference Scholarships. This year, our generous sponsor, Health Share of Oregon is offering 10 scholarships that will cover the registration cost of attending the 79th OPHA Annual Conference & Meeting. OPHA recognizes that there are additional costs to attending a two-day conference, but we hope this opportunity will allow 10 individuals to attend the conference who otherwise would not have the opportunity to participate. The scholarships are open to conference presenters, students and any public health or public health related professional who's employer cannot pay their registration fee or otherwise do not have the funds to attend normally.
These scholarships are open until filled, as a first come first serve basis. We hope to build a more robust scholarship program in future years with more funding by sponsors.

Please share this opportunity widely with your networks!
