Learn about what Long COVID is from Oregon Health and Sciences University Noriko Yamaguchi, PT, DPT. Also, what are the causes and how symptoms can be managed and supported for a patients new normal.



Noriko Yamaguchi is a board-certified geriatric physical therapist and a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA). She spends her clinical time at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) working with patients with complex and chronic medical conditions, including oncology, long COVID, autoimmune conditions, dysautonomia, mast cell activation syndrome, and connective tissue disorders. Dr. Yamaguchi’s research interests currently center around community public health and environmental physical therapy, but she has presented regionally on long COVID rehabilitation and nationally on the application of Universal Design for Learning and an equity framework in physical therapy education. She brings a planetary health justice, anti-racist, and trauma-informed mindset into her teaching, patient care, and research.

Hear from disability justice advocate Gabriel San Emeterio, LMSW (they/she/he) from Long COVID Justice leading grassroots, collective efforts to confront the Long COVID crisis, while centering racial, social, economic and disability justice.



Gabriel San Emeterio is a queer and disabled activist from Mexico City. They hold a Masters degree in Social Work with Community Organizing as a method of practice and a certificate in Social Policy from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, where they're now part time faculty. Gabriel’s life experience as a person living with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis ME/CFS, HIV, and other complex chronic conditions, fuels their passion for disability justice and liberatory community work. They co-founded Strategies for High Impact and its project Long COVID Justice.
